Daiwa House Modular Europe achieves level 5 on the CO2 Performance ladder

15 Jul 2022

The subject of sustainability is high on the agenda for Daiwa House Modular Europe/ Jan Snel. At the moment, we are heading for global warming of over 1.5 degrees. This is contrary to the Paris Agreement of 2015. This global warming has serious consequences for people and planet.

We are fully committed to making our products and processes more sustainable and to inspire other companies to become more sustainable too. Together, we are battling to remain below warming of 1.5 degrees. To this end, the first and most important step is to gain insight into the company’s emissions. Daiwa House Modular Europe Jan opted to become CO2 Performance ladder level 3-certified in 2020. Within three months, we had progressed to level 4. We achieved level 5 certification on 11 July 2022! The highest level on the CO2 Performance ladder.

The Foundation for Climate Friendly Procurement and Business (SKAO) administers CO2 Performance ladder certification. We gained an insight into our emissions with the methodology in the CO2 Performance Ladder 3.1 Handbook. The emissions are based on Scope’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol:

  • Scope 1: direct emissions such as gas, diesel, petrol;
  • Scope 2: indirect emissions such as electricity, flying;
  • Scope 3: indirect emissions in the form of material emissions and waste.

We not only consider our own operational management. We also assess the impact of suppliers and clients, as well as our social initiatives. We encourage every company to get certified in accordance with the CO2 Performance ladder to gain a greater insight into their CO2 footprint. Only by understanding where the CO2 footprint occurs can we work towards a better world.
